    Course Description
In this course students will discover the amazing journey that cells must take to get from an egg to an embryo, to form a mature adult, and to be able to reproduce in order to continue the life cycle. After completing this course, the students will have an understanding of the developmental processes required to form the egg and sperm, and how these cells combine to form the embryo, how the embryo undergoes gastrulation to form the germ layers, the formation of tissues and organs, maturation of the adult, reproduction, and aging.
Students will also learn how to relate science to everyday life by using developmental biology as a forum to integrate many aspects of biology from the molecular biology of the cell and genetics, to the complete organism and how it is influenced by its environment. After completing this course, students will be able to relate current events to scientific research that supports it through oral presentations and class discussions.
